A desk-based assessment involves the study and analysis of existing data sources for a site and its immediate environs, including written, graphic, photographic, electronic information and historic mapping. The purpose of the assessment is to consider the character of the study area, the likelihood that heritage assets may be present, their significance and setting and the potential impact of any development.
Foundations Heritage undertake Desk Based Assessments for sites across the UK, all in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists Standard and Guidance for Desk Based Assessment (2017).
