A Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) considers the impact of a new development on existing historic assets and their individual settings. A HIA may be required as part of a planning application, to assess specific impacts on built heritage assets or Conservation Areas as requested by various local authorities.
It includes an outline of any proposed works, an assessment of their impact on the building or landscape and a mitigation strategy.
